Director Wendy Veach oversees the staff and operations of nine parks and recreation facilities. She joined the department in 1999 as the Recreation Specialist and served as a Recreation Professional for 3 years. She left the Recreation Department to serve as the Director of an Adult Day Care serving individuals with disabilities. In November 2008 she returned as the Recreation Specialist. In July 2009 she was named Director. Wendy received a BS degree in Commercial Leisure and Sports Management from Elon University. Over the years she has coached soccer, T-ball, cheerleading and gymnastics.

Thad Shermer has been the Athletic
Supervisor since 1999 managing sports and fitness. He also is the park administrator for Farris
Memorial Park. Graduating from UNC-Wilmington in 1984, Thad has a degree
in Parks and Recreation management with an emphasis in Commercial
Recreation. |
Tim Landreth has been the Maintenance
and Events Supervisor for more than 20 years and keeps the facilities in working order. He is also responsible for setting up equipment, tables and chairs for various programs as well as maintaining the
grounds at each of the recreation department's nine facilities. |

Cheryl Albrecht
recently joined the staff at Madison - Mayodan Recreation Department as a Recreation Specialist. Her primary job is to plan, organize and supervise programs and services for the M-M Senior Center. She is the local coordinator for the Rockingham County Senior Games, Summer Day Camp Supervisor and assists with special events.

Britta Younts now works part-time as
Personnel Secretary & Program Assistant to the Recreation Specialist

Lauren Motsinger
works part-time in the afternoons as the Administrative
Secretary and receptionist. After graduating from McMichael High School
she attended RCC earning an Associate Degree in Occupational Therapy Assistant.
She joined the recreation department in 2006 and helps all of the departments with various tasks.

Amy Kiger is the Center Supervisor and works part-time to keep the center
open in the evenings. She has the hectic task of answering phones, greeting
visitors, making program calls, and keeping general order in the lobby. |
